SIGNIFICANT ABORIGINAL BIRTHING DIRECTIONS TREE CUT DOWN, MURDERED.
"The destruction of a sacred tree on Djab Wurrung country has broken our hearts."
“Our bodies are at one with the country, we can feel the chains of the chainsaw grinding through our souls, our spirits. The sounds of those chainsaws will haunt us forever and be added to the already existing intergenerational trauma shadowing our people. There are no words to describe the emptiness we as Djab Wurrung are feeling right now.”

– Tree felling causes heat waves, flooding, landslides, changes in wind and weather patterns, hurricanes
“the world's standing forests may be protecting continents against cyclonic storms, such as hurricanes, typhoons and cyclones. But as these forests disappear, scientists anticipate more frequent and more destructive storms”
– Deep root systems are required. Root absorption gif
– google earth deforestation progression (amazon rainforest and Australian landscape loss) over the last 10-20 years
– Native populations understand our connection to trees, balance with nature is vital for survival and sustainability
– Late stage capitalism is bringing us all to extinction
– Each tree is as unique as a fingerprint, they have character and personality, they are alive.
– They were once juggernauts that could only be brought down by ‘god’ itself. Mother Nature.
– Killing them kills us.
– Mother nature is ruthless and fierce. And she is a killer. She gives us a chance to live but she can and will take us out if we do not learn.
– House flipping. Flattening. Developing suburbs. Mulch conspiracy.
– Botched and bribed inspections, all trees, land, wildlife, and houses
– House inspectors video evidence of new builds falling apart
– Gold Coast is a classic example currently
– A tropical coastal town being eaten alive by these parasites of greed, once beautiful and thriving, now dying, it will pay the ultimate price. Natural disaster will create crisis here.
Suburbs becoming urban hell.
Even waterfronts are stagnant, artificial design.
Real grass being replaced with fake plastic grass.
Reminds also of the Dubai world islands project, failed. Even looks like germs in a petri dish, a disease spreading and infesting.
[Insert screenshots of article here, project of 2,700+ more houses to be built on a flood plain in an already overpacked suburb
To the [redacted] City Council,
I write this letter with an overwhelming sense of frustration and deep concern regarding the [redacted] Government's reckless and ill-considered plans to further develop housing in [redacted]. As someone who has lived in this area for the last 28 years, it is vividly evident that the very fabric of our city, a delicate balance that has sustained us all for so long, is being eaten alive and torn apart at its seams. This relentless push for expansion is not just unsustainable—it is an affront to those who call this place home, and a disaster in the making for the wellbeing of its residents.
[redacted] is already teetering on the edge of overpopulation, and is a far over-densified nightmare of congestion, and yet these plans press on, on flood plains no less, with those proposing it in full awareness of its consequences and a remorseless indifference to the devastating effects this will have on the community. The infrastructure is simply not equipped to handle such a massive influx of people. We face not only gridlock and resource strain, but the more insidious, long-lasting impact on the mental health of everyone living here. To continue with this level of development is to condemn this city to becoming unliveable, a hollow shell of what it once was, where the needs of the people are brushed aside in favour of economic interests and political expedience.
It is infuriating to witness this happening with so little regard for the lived experiences of those who already feel the suffocating effects of overcrowding. The sense of community that once flourished here is at risk of being completely eroded, replaced by the cold, grey, impersonal sprawl of hastily constructed housing that prioritises quantity over quality of life. The strain on roads, schools, healthcare, public transport, and other essential services will be catastrophic. How can anyone stand by and allow the irreversible damage to continue?
As someone whose primary work, research, and expertise lie in suicide prevention and the global suicide epidemic, I cannot overstate that the pipeline of depression and suicidal ideation this culture is creating is critical and catastrophic. This is a crisis. People will die as a result of this hyper-urbanisation, death and depression rates will skyrocket in the near future if development continues at such unviable rates. It is not just probable—but inevitable. Australians deserve better than to live in a city so compact, cramped, colourless, and densified that it becomes a labyrinth of concrete with the atmosphere of a prison, that suffocates the heart and shatters the soul, and leaves severe long-lasting damage to the psyche. This way of life is both un-Australian and inhuman. It is the very antithesis of human nature, and science confirms it. At this speed, it cannot and will not occur without severe fallout.
The effect will be much harder to undo after the fact than it is right now. There is power to change the trajectory of the future right here and now, by re-thinking these approvals, shutting down proposals of these projects, and instead prioritising the preservation of all that remains sacred in this city, before it is too late. I do hope you will stand by this, as your actions here will reveal your priorities and care for the citizens you govern.
I implore you, [redacted] Council, to rethink this disastrous course we are headed for. Halt further construction in [redacted], [redacted], and its surrounds. We cannot sacrifice the well-being of the city's current residents on the altar of unchecked development and insatiable greed. Do not allow this city to become unrecognisable, overburdened, and unliveable. The people of [redacted] deserve better, and it is your responsibility to protect the very essence of what makes this place a home.
This is NOT the solution to the current ongoing housing crisis. There are many ways for our government to solve the housing crisis that do not require the absolute pillaging of our environment and the smothering of our peace. Anyone who does not see it is horribly uneducated and is UNEQUIPPED AND UNQUALIFIED to be making any decisions, or to be in any position of power. There are more than enough houses for the Australian population to live in. The problem at hand is not in any way housing construction or supply; it is the grotesque volume of house HOARDING occurring with existing houses in this country.
Enough is enough, and it's time for decisive, intelligent, responsible action. Stop the overdevelopment in [redacted].
Thank you for your time.
Sincerely,
Z.
